ABOUT ANDREA MARISCAL-GUZMAN

I’m a dedicated public service professional passionate about advancing equitable opportunities in education and civic leadership. As a recent Master of Public Administration graduate from Virginia Tech, I bring experience in research, program management, and grassroots organizing to create meaningful change across Virginia communities. My work has centered on empowering underrepresented groups, especially Latino youth and families, through mentorship, leadership development, and civic participation. From co-founding Primeros Pasos and leading the Scholars Latino Initiative at James Madison University to serving as Operations Lead for Latinos for Spanberger and Social Media Coordinator for the Democratic Latinos of Virginia, I’ve seen the power of collaboration and representation firsthand. Professionally, I’ve supported research and program initiatives through my graduate assistantship and the Ridenour Fellowship, where I conducted policy research to inform local government decisions. I continue to merge this analytical background with my on-the-ground community work to ensure data, advocacy, and impact stay connected. I’m passionate about bridging public administration and community engagement, while creating pathways for young people, families, and local leaders to thrive. My goal is to continue building programs and partnerships that empower communities, strengthen civic participation, and inspire the next generation of Latino leaders.
