Designing and executing high- and low-fidelity usability tests to evaluate software and hardware of a variety of medical devices and healthcare systems, such as anesthesia machines, infusion pumps, tissue imaging devices, and clinical collaboration systems • Facilitating summative usability evaluations for regulated medical devices, in accordance with FDA Human Factors Guidance and IEC 62366, to evaluate the ease of use and safety of medical devices seeking regulatory approval • Documenting usability evaluation results, participants’ subjective feedback, and Human Factors Root Cause Analysis in Human Factors/Usability Engineering submissions and detailed reports • Performing use-related risk analysis to develop usability evaluation test plans • Conducting user research to understand context of use, establish user requirements, and inform patient safety decisions for medical device design and implementation • Facilitating formative usability evaluations to evaluate prototypes, and collaborating with product designers and engineers to improve ease of use and safety in future design iterations • Presenting Human Factors findings with actionable recommendations to cross-functional teams and stakeholders in written reports and oral presentations • Performing comparative usability evaluations to inform hospital procurement decisions • Conducting heuristic evaluations to determine usability issues and propose design mitigations
