ABOUT ANDREA I. GONZALEZ MATEO

Andrea represents Miami-Dade County as Assistant County Attorney on eminent domain and real estate matters. Prior to joining the County Attorney\'s Office, Andrea represented the Florida Department of Transportation in litigation and in transactional matters involving eminent domain, real estate, land use, construction, engineering, intergovernmental agreements, and procurement. While in private practice, Ms. Gonzalez assisted clients in a wide range of complex commercial litigation and business disputes. She has participated in federal and state court cases involving business torts, breach of contract, partnership disputes, intellectual property, banking, asset sales, class actions, commercial real estate, mortgage backed securities and commercial foreclosures. Representative matters include: •Representing a Fortune 15 retail company in a dispute with a Florida vendor and obtaining a favorable settlement on its behalf •Representing a foreign bank sued in a United States court and obtaining an affirmance on appeal of the bank’s dismissal for lack of jurisdiction •Representing foreign and U.S. record and publishing companies in an international dispute with a major recording artist •Representing the former CEO of a Fortune 50 company and successfully obtaining his dismissal with prejudice for inability to pierce the corporate veil •Representing a prominent non-profit in a dispute involving improper land use and zoning approvals granted to a high-rise developer for a neighboring parcel of land •Representing a Fortune 500 international lodging company in a class action lawsuit brought by timeshare purchasers in Florida •Representing a major United States bank as a plaintiff in commercial foreclosure and commercial loan litigation in Miami-Dade, Broward and Palm Beach Circuit Courts and successfully obtaining summary judgment on its behalf in several matters •Representing a multi-million dollar judgment creditor in the judgment debtor’s bankruptcy proceedings Ms. Gonzalez is admitted to practice in Florida and in the United States District Court for the Southern District of Florida.
