ABOUT ANDREA HERRERO
I am an international security analyst specialising in defence strategy, deterrence, and intelligence studies, with regional expertise in the Middle East and North Africa, Southeast Asia, and the Arctic. I recently completed an MA in War Studies (Distinction) at King’s College London, where my dissertation, “Deterring in the High North: The Strategic Value of Rapid Response Forces for NATO in the Arctic”, explored the operational and legal dimensions of deterrence in Arctic environments. This research was conducted in partnership with NATO’s Allied Rapid Reaction Corps (ARRC), focusing on the use of rapid response forces to strengthen alliance readiness and adaptability in high-threat theatres. My academic and professional experience combines military research, wargaming, and intelligence analysis, bridging operational insight with policy relevance. I have worked on strategic research projects with the National Security Centre of Excellence (Canada) and the King’s Wargaming Network, delivering analytical outputs for both governmental and corporate clients. Fluent in Spanish, English, French, and Portuguese, I am currently expanding my language skills in Arabic and Korean, reflecting both my professional focus and personal interest in cross-regional security and diplomacy.
