Experience

  1. Sr Environmental Control and Life Support Systems Engineer

    Blue Origin

Sep 2022 — Present · Seattle, WA, US

Led the development and vertical integration of Environmental Control and Life Support (ECLS) system assemblies, including achieving NASA milestones ahead of schedule and under budget for the low Earth Orbit (LEO) space station and crew lunar lander programs• Led the design, fabrication, testing, and integration of critical water processing components, contributing to the overall success of both programs.• Led the development of a multifiltration bed system for a commercial space station, managing a total budget of $2.5M as part of NASA Milestones. Successfully completed two NASA Milestones within schedule and under budget.• Advanced an adsorbent-based multifiltration bed from TRL 3 to 6, enabling the transition from proof of concept to a fully validated prototype for commercial spaceflight. • Led the design of experiments and statistical modeling for experimental design data interpretation, and performance optimization, coordinating closely with research teams to refine system performance and ensure compliance with mission requirements.• Led the design and testing of a lunar lander water management system, including multifiltration beds and biocide dosing/removal. Achieved successful bench-scale testing results that demonstrated the feasibility of adsorbents for fuel cell water treatment and biocide removal.• Led the development of a proprietary adsorbent for advanced water treatment, targeting organics and large molecular weight contaminants to enhance purification efficiency.• Led the catalyst development for air revitalization via the Trace Contaminant Control Assembly, improving removal of volatile organic compounds (VOCs) and other airborne contaminants in closed-loop life support systems.• Led the development and integration of trace gas sensors for atmospheric monitoring, supporting environmental safety for the LEO space station program.
