In my role as a research fellow at the University of Bologna, I collaborate with the Department of Business Science and the Department of Statistics, contributing to innovative and socially relevant projects in the field of environmental sustainability and water resources management. One of the most significant experiences was my participation in the European LIFE SAND BOIL project, which focuses on the implementation of natural solutions to mitigate the risk of flooding along the Po river coast due to the reactivation of sandboils. In the context of this project, I had the opportunity to develop a strategic Business Plan for the introduction of new flood mitigation technologies, in collaboration with the Maccaferri company. Furthermore, I carried out a Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) to compare the new solutions with traditional methods of well management, such as diaphragm walls, which are highly polluting due to the high consumption of cement. I also drafted a Social-Economic Report, based on key performance indicators (KPIs) and on a series of surveys and interviews conducted among residents of the areas surrounding the river. This report provided a clear picture of the social and economic impact of the proposed solutions, highlighting the needs and expectations of local communities.Currently, I am working on a project that evaluates ecosystem services in the Po River district. My research aims to support the economic analysis of the Po Basin Directive (WFD), focusing on the monetary evaluation of environmental costs and benefits. Using the Choice Experiment (CE) and a multinomial logit model, we examine residents\' preferences for environmental improvements, seeking to quantify their willingness to pay (WTP) for improvements in water quality, biodiversity and extreme event management.
