About Andrea Burns
Hello! I am a fifth year PhD candidate in Computer Science at Boston University and Google Fellowship recipient. As a member of the Image and Video Computing group, I am interested in computer vision and its intersection with natural language processing in machine learning applications. Specifically, most of my research focuses on vision and language representation learning. I hope to positively impact the world through my work, and am most passionate about projects that can benefit humans in application, such as using vision & language techniques for assistive technologies.In addition to my scientific coursework and numerous research positions I have held in applied mathematics and computer science, I studied French and continued dancing throughout my undergraduate years. My multidisciplinary experiences help feed my creative perspective, making me a stronger problem solver; I will bring a diverse thought process to the workplace.
