Engaged in product development of aluminum alloy forgings targeting Space, Naval, Electronics, and Industrial applications. Tailors the thermomechanical processing of aluminum alloys to meet the microstructural, mechanical, corrosion, and cosmetic requirements of high-performance forgings. Expert in aluminum open-die and ring rolling forging methods. Experienced in unique methods in stress-relieving large aluminum forged products for residual stress reduction and stress-corrosion cracking resistance. Performs aluminum product characterization (mechanical and fracture testing, optical and electron microscopy, differential scanning calorimetry, etc) for problem-solving. Developed expertise in direct-chill aluminum ingot casting and involved with supplier ingot quality assessments. Developed expertise in using Thermo-Calc and PRISMA to optimize the TMP of aluminum forging alloys. Engages with numerous commercial, government, and university customers and partners to provide metallurgical and process solutions (i.e. NASA Integrally Stiffened Cylinder project). Manages a suite of products for rocket manufacturers such as Space X, Northrop Grumman, United Launch Alliance, and Blue Origin. Improved internal First Pass Yield on all aluminum forged products to 90%. One of three metals suppliers invited to present at the NASA Workshop on Materials and Methods for Rapid Manufacturing for Commercial and Urban Aviation Workshop in November 2018. Growing knowledge in Titanium Alloy forging metallurgy.
