About Andre Mueller
Research Scientist with a long-term focus on molecular and cellular biology, translational and clinical research in the fields of immunology, neurodegeneration and neuroinflammation, and experience in identification and evaluation of molecular therapeutic targets • Highly proficient in assay development, proteomics, large-scale expression analysis, biostatistics, bioinformatics, protein biochemistry, genetics, flow cytometry, stereotactic surgery and animal disease models Research interests and experiences1. Large-scale transcriptional analysis of cerebrospinal fluid cells of MS patientsDirect investigation of viable cells from multiple sclerosis CNS lesions is difficult because MS lesions are rarely biopsied. However, cells in the CSF likely have interacted with or have derived from inflammatory CNS lesions and thus are of interest because they are arguably representative of MS disease activity. Large scale transcriptional profiling of CSF cells opens a promising new route for the development of tests facilitating highly sensitive and specific MS diagnoses as well as treatment efficacy and disability prognoses in MS. We are currently establishing a diagnostic and prognostic test for MS based on unbiased genome-wide transcriptional analyses of CSF cells. Function of B-cell maturation antigen (BCMA) in neuroinflammation3. Modulating adaptive and innate immunity by administration of recombinant SLPI4. Role of hyaluronan in CNS inflammation5. Disease mechanisms of progressive MS
