ABOUT ANDRE ALLEN

Andre is a proud native of Peoria, Illinois, and an alumnus of Peoria Public Schools. He received his Bachelor of Arts in Communication Studies and Master of Science in Sports Administration from Eastern Illinois University in Charleston, Illinois. Andre is a current doctoral student at Illinois State University, pursuing a Ph.D. in Higher Education Administration. He was elected to the Peoria City Council on April 6, 2021, and sworn into office on May 4, 2021, representing District 4. His priorities are neighborhoods/infrastructure initiatives, business development, public safety, and quality of life. Andre enjoys participating in a variety of civic engagement and volunteer opportunities in his spare time, serving on multiple boards and committees, including the Police-Community Relations Advisory Committee(Chair 20••••21), Peoria Public Schools Foundation, Peoria Area Chamber of Commerce, Peoria Promise Foundation and is a proud member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Inc. Kappa Pi Lambda Chapter of Peoria, Illinois. Andre is a graduate of the Class of 2022 Community Leadership School sponsored by the Peoria Area Chamber of Commerce. He was selected out of more than 150 nominations as one of Greater Peoria’s top leaders—as a member of the 40 Leaders Under Forty Class of 2018 sponsored by Peoria Magazine. In October (2022) he was named the inaugural Chief Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Officer within Peoria County Government, responsible for furthering the objectives of diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) within Peoria County government and the Peoria County community utilizing five key DEI perspectives: access and equity; inclusive participation; learning, and diversity; community engagement; and leadership and commitment. He has over ten years of progressive higher education experience, working for Eastern Illinois University, Illinois State University, and Methodist College of UnityPoint Health (MCUPH) in various roles/areas. He previously served as Director of Student Affairs, Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion at MCUPH, providing strategic leadership and supervisory responsibility for all student services and diversity, equity, and inclusion practices. Andre is married to his college sweetheart Jaleesha Allen, and they have three children, two daughters, Barbie Marie and Dream, and one son, Dreyton.
