About Andi Sciacca

I didn’t set out to work in food systems. Like many, I arrived here with questions—about sustainability, access, waste, stewardship, and the stories we tell ourselves about who and what food is for. Over the years, I’ve turned those questions into action: building programs, mentoring emerging leaders, and designing more thoughtful and effective ways to feed and care for our communities. My journey began as an educator on college campuses across the US and abroad. Today, I lead the FEED MKE Pilot Program with the City of Milwaukee—a USDA-funded initiative tackling food waste, hunger, and health through food recovery, composting, and soil regeneration. As the granddaughter of farmers and daughter of homesteaders, this work feels like a natural extension of my roots.I’ve always been a builder and problem-solver—drawn to challenges that require creativity and collaboration. That drive led me to found the FEAST Institute® (Food, Ethics, Art, Science + Technology), a platform for reimagining food systems through interdisciplinary learning, public engagement, and applied practice. From workshops and toolkits to digital courses and keynote presentations, my work lives at the intersection of education, sustainability, creativity, and ethical practice—designed to spark curiosity and drive impact. At its core, what I do is about people. I’m committed to helping others connect values with meaningful action—whether as a graduate program faculty advisor, a mentor with the Techstars Anywhere Accelerator, or co-founder of Stoic Heart®, a workshop series I co-host with my husband, Greg Sadler. My background spans leadership in nonprofit board development and higher education—Dean, Chief Academic Officer, Director of Curriculum, Board President, Head of Accreditation. Through it all, one thread runs constant: I help people make sense of complexity and develop solutions that work. My newest venture, Blue Green Creatives, builds on that foundation by supporting organizations in crafting strategies and stories that advance environmental and economic impact.I’m passionate about building partnerships that nourish ideas, communities, and systems. Whether through public philosophy events like Philosophy Eats® or a composting pilot that reshapes local policy, I thrive in the spaces where disciplines meet, where ethics and innovation overlap, where food becomes more than fuel, and learning sparks change.Let’s connect if you’re curious about big questions, thoughtful solutions, or bold conversations about food systems, philosophy, and the world we’re working to create.
