ABOUT ANDI BRIERLEY

https://research.leedstrinity.ac.uk/en/persons/andi-brierley I am currently a Senior Lecturer in Criminology, Investigation & Policing. My previous roles in Higher Education includes being the Head of Access, Participation and Outcomes at Leeds Trinity University & I previously delivered elements of the Unlocked Graduates Prison Officers Scheme as a Senior Teacher, developing the knowledge and skills of tomorrows leaders of the Criminal Justice System. Prior to transitioning to Higher Education, I was the Child Looked After Specialist for Leeds Youth Justice Service. I have been instrumental in reducing the numbers of Children Looked After being criminalised in Leeds. I was responsible for developing and coordinating the Reducing Offending for Children Looked After strategy which is a multi-agency desistence model that offers opportunity for children in care at risk of offending through a panel of various services. I have created partnerships and developed various projects to help young people to desist from offending and reoffending. I have personal lived experience of various Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) such as early exposure to Crime and Drugs, Relational Poverty, School Exclusion, Care and Custody as a YP and these experiences have shaped my practice and approach to promoting the wellbeing of vulnerable children and developing crime free futures and reducing victims.
