ABOUT MARK ANDERSON

At Imperial I’m Director of the university’s professional recognition programme for educators (the Imperial STAR Framework). I’m also Course Director of the PG Diploma in University Learning and Teaching. My work at Imperial involves educational development, education and social science research supervision, programme design consulting and advising on anthropologically-informed approaches to intercultural proficiency and leadership. I’m an Accreditor for Advance HE, reviewing direct fellowship applications from across the global higher education sector, and I’m a Tutor in Applied Anthropology at the Oxford University Department for Continuing Education. I\'m the founder and CEO of Akkadium, a training and consultancy firm that supports intercultural proficiency and socioculturally-informed strategy in leadership, policymaking and practice in multiple sectors, including higher education, public health and sustainable development. My specialisms include archaeology, cultural heritage, educational development, lifelong learning, applied anthropology, sociocultural competence and intercultural proficiency for social justice. I’m a Fellow of the Royal Geographical Society, a Fellow of the Royal Anthropological Institute, a Fellow of the Staff and Educational Development Association, a Fellow of the Society of Antiquaries of London, a Member of the Chartered Institute for Archaeologists and a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.
