About Andrew Clare

Dr. Andrew Clare has held multiple leadership roles in aviation, automotive, and robotics throughout his career. He was recently appointed as the CEO of Elroy Air, the category leader in middle-mile autonomous aerial logistics. He also serves as a Board Director of Noya, a climate tech startup developing unique, scalable Direct Air Capture technology. He previously served as the CTO of Nuro, a leading Autonomous Driving technology developer. At Nuro he led the teams responsible for software, design, sourcing, manufacturing, and validation of Nuro’s self-driving, zero-occupant, on-road goods transportation vehicles. Under his leadership, Nuro successfully deployed 3 generations of AI-driven autonomous vehicles onto public roads with zero safety incidents. Nuro also received the first Federal exemption for a self-driving vehicle to operate on public roads. Prior to Nuro, Andrew led Tesla’s Model X vehicle program through scaling production, achieving record gross margin targets, entering new countries, and improving the customer experience. Andrew earned his Ph.D. and M.S. in Aeronautics and Astronautics, as well as his B.S. in Aerospace Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, where he was a National Defense Science and Engineering Graduate (NDSEG) Fellow. He is a co-author on 5 technical journal articles and nine conference papers. His doctoral work at MIT focused on Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS) for dual-use civilian/defense applications.
