ABOUT ANAY BANHATTI

Anay is an advocate with more than 14 years standing and is based out of Mumbai. Anay has been extensively engaged in providing advisory and litigation services to clients on issues under taxation laws (both, indirect and direct taxation), trade laws and other commercial laws. Anay’s area of focus has been indirect taxation - Customs, GST, Excise, Service tax, Sales tax and Foreign Trade Policy. He has been actively engaged in providing advisory services to clients in relation to investigations by tax enforcement authorities and other regulatory authorities. He has regularly represented clients in litigation under various tax and trade laws, across all adjudicatory/ assessment authorities, appellate authorities, advance ruling authority, before the Tribunals, High Courts and the Supreme Court. Anay has been a Partner at DMD Advocates, and at ELP (Economic Laws Practice) in its tax team, prior to starting his own practice. He has worked with clients from several sectors including FMCG, pharmaceuticals, alcohol beverage, automobile, advertising, banking and financial services, manufacturing and telecom, amongst others. Anay has also been engaged in providing advice and assistance for setting up of anti-corruption compliance programme and conducting training in relation to compliance under the anti- corruption laws.
