Section Head in the Caisson Fabrication Yard. The Caissons, are cellular artificial blocks of large dimensions (32.90m length x 22.40m width x 23.30m high, out of which 0.80m is the base and the remaining 22.50m the trunk) of reinforced concrete, which are manufactured on shore and transported to the sea by suitable floating cranes where they are poured into their final position to form the basis for the construction of the jetty. Totally, 41 cellular boxes (Caissons), of six different types, with a total volume of 131,500 m3 will be constructed. The production cycle provides the construction of three Caissons / per month, and the existing manpower is 110 people / per work shift.The works in the yard comprise the following operations: • Caisson Base Slab Construction• Slab Transfer• Caisson Walls On-shore Fixed Gantry Slip forming Shutter. • Caisson Transfer• Inspection and Treatment of Internal Walls. • Caisson Sinking Preparation. • Caisson Launching / Loading out on Floating Dock
