I work for the Health and Justice Services- The Mental Health Treatment Requirement (MHTR) Team. Health and Justice services are responsible for delivering services across many different settings; in Police custody, courts, prison and in the community.1. The MHTR team provides psychological assessments and interventions to people with mental health difficulties who have come into contact with the UK criminal justice services and whose offences may attract a community or suspended sentence order. My role revolves around preventing short term custodial sentences and reducing reoffending. I work towards improving access to psychological interventions and addressing underlying mental health problems, thereby improving health and social outcomes for the individual and their family.
