Kotak is undergoing a transformation, shifting from being a prominent consumer bank that utilizes technology to a cutting-edge technology company dedicated to providing its customers with a world-class financial services experience.Worked with 2 teams - Merchant Payments and Mobile Banking. My contribution in both the team are as follows.1. Merchant Payments - This component is currently owned by a third party, which unfortunately provides unreliable and subpar services. Consequently, the leadership decided to withdraw from them and build this component inhouse. My work in this team revolves around contributing to architectural designs and implementing this service from scratch.2. Mobile Banking - The aim was to revitalize the existing mobile banking application. During my tenure with this team, I had successfully optimized workflows, bolstered system availability, and enhanced fault tolerance. Noteworthy achievements include integrating fallback downstream data sources and read replicas, implementing caching layers, bringing P90 latencies below the agreed-upon 350 ms benchmark, and significantly reducing system downtime by an impressive 30%.
