ABOUT ANANTHA KRISHNA KS
Academic visionary, hard-core teacher and researcher -has put Karnataka on the national map of Architectural education by developing the architecture departments of two noted institutions viz: MIT, Manipal and RVCE, Bangalore. His major contributions to architectural education and research : a) Founded and established a remarkably high benchmark at the department of architecture, RVCE, by inducting full time faculty and visiting professionals of very high caliber. The academic rigor was acknowledged by noted architects including Gayathri Shetty, Dinesh Verma. Itty Zacharaiah, Joseph John, N M Salim. Nalini Kembhavi, Leena Kumar, PR Mehta, to name a few. b) Was instrumental in establishing a four-year MOU with the University of Applied sciences, Muenster, Germany and University of Moratuwa, Sri Lanka and RV College of Architecture, from 20••••08 c) On behalf of Council of Architecture, organized the first ever Faculty Development Program in South India for architecture teachers during Conducted several more such programs, benefitting about 500 teachers from across India. d) Has served as the Chairman, Board of Studies in Architecture, VTU from 20••••16. Instrumental in formulating the curriculum for B. Arch, M. Arch. and Ph. D. programs of VTU. Has successfully guided four Ph. D candidates, one from Manipal University and three from VTU. e) Instrumental in promoting Ph. D. programs in Architecture throughout India by giving lectures on research methods in architecture, in view of the fact that he is one among the early doctorates in the field of architecture (1982). f) Has over 50 publications in architecture magazines/journals in India. Has published four research articles in Scopus indexed international journals. g) Served as a jury member for several student competitions and professional design competitions including the prestigious Global Architectural Design competition for Indian National War Museum, New Delhi organized by the Ministry of Defense, Government of India. h) Has received numerous national awards including the Madhav Achwal Gold medal, 2014 for lifetime contribution to architectural education conferred by the Indian Institute of Architects, Mumbai. i) Has designed and executed buildings at Manipal Institute of Technology campus, which have been published in architectural magazines. j) He was conferred an honorary doctorate (Honoris Causa) by the Bengaluru North University on September 2, 2024 for his contribution to architectural education and research, institution building and teacher training.
