About Anand Padmanabhan
Physician-Scientist-Innovator-EntrepreneurPassionate, mission-driven and innovative physician-scientist whose work has challenged long-standing dogma in the platelet field and has led to patient-impacting advances in care. He has successfully led multi-center and multi-specialty teams to “get things done”. These efforts have led to a better understanding of disease mechanisms, development of novel diagnostics and more effective therapies. He is adept at rapid context switching that is needed for working successfully in broad areas of clinical, basic and translational research in hematology, pathology and transfusion medicine. He is inventor of several technologies and has a number of issued/pending patents in the platelet and platelet immunology space. His start-up Retham (“Blood” in his native language) Technologies seeks to disrupt the diagnostic testing paradigm in heparin-induced thrombocytopenia, a serious blood clotting disorder, and is expected to lead to significant improvements in patient care. Helping patients with unexplained bleeding & clotting conditions gives him the greatest joy.
