ABOUT ANAHITA FATHI

Clinician scientist board-certified in Internal Medicine and Infectious Diseases. I have a keen interest in vaccine development, focusing on early phase clinical trials. At UKE, I contributed to the clinical development of vector vaccine candidates against emerging infectious diseases such as MERS-CoV, COVID-19, and Ebola Virus Disease, and have served as deputy principal investigator for numerous Investigator-Initiated Trials (IITs). Prior to my experience in vaccine development, I conducted translational research in HIV immunology at the Ragon Institute. Currently, I am serving as Associate Director of Clinical Development in the Infectious Disease portfolio at BioNTech. I am also deeply committed to medical education and the support of early career medical professionals. At UKE, my roles included Chief Resident in Internal Medicine and subsequently Chief Infectious Disease Fellow. Nationally, I advocate for medical students and residents in Internal Medicine as Chair of the Young DGIM within the German Society of Internal Medicine (DGIM).
