ABOUT ANA GARROTE CAÑAS

I’m a passionate & results-driven scientist with over 7 years of hands-on experience in the life sciences field, particularly in clinical diagnostics and IVD. Throughout my career, I’ve had the opportunity to contribute at various stages of product development from early R&D phases to crafting go-to-market strategies. I always prioritise collaboration, innovation and achieving practical results.🧪 I’ve taken the lead on projects involving assay development (both protein and molecular), including lyophilisation of reagents and designing lateral flow tests. I’ve worked closely with international partners, such as EVIK Diagnostics in Canada and DCN Dx in the U.S, fostering open communication and collaboration. I truly believe that strong partnerships are essential for diving innovation and I really enjoy bringing people together to solve complex challenges. During the development of a malaria diagnostic test, I embraced agile methodology and adopted the role of Scrum Master, guiding the team through sprint planning and retrospectives to keep us focused and adaptable. This experience strengthened my leadership, time management, and coordination skills, especially in fast-paced startup environments. Outside the lab, I’ve been deeply involved in strategic thinking and commercial planning from SWOT analysis and market research to pricing strategy. At Accunea, I played a key role in shaping the market entry strategy for a medical device and helped decide whether to offer it as a service or product package.🧠 I’ve also had the privilege of engaging with stakeholders, from writing grant proposals and securing letters of support to collaborating with KOLs for business development and clinical insight. This blend of technical knowledge and interpersonal skills has enabled me to bridge the gap between science, operations and commercial teams.I enjoy working in multidisciplinary, communicative & creative teams and I’m always open to new challenges that allow me to keep learning and growing.
