My love for the theatre, and working with children and young people.Above all this however, I wanted to make a difference. After working with looked after children for five years this was my biggest drive.I was a painfully shy child myself, up until 19 when I remember making the decision that I was going to change to enable myself to make the most out of life. If I had had something like Glasshouse Mini growing up it would have made a huge difference. A lot of other similar part time ‘stage schools’ & ‘drama classes’ can often be very daunting.Glasshouse Mini is most definitely not that! Our workshops are laid back, informal, friendly and fun in a safe and welcoming atmosphere. Our Minis make new children feel so welcome and love to tell them about what we get up to. Every child that has attended their taster session has returned the following week.Parents comment on how they love the community feel, and I am now friends with most, if not all, parents that bring their children week after week. We often get together for a glass of wine, and I also now babysit, do school runs and look after their children in the school holidays.Parents also cannot believe the change in their children in such a short amount of time. Some of our Minis who couldn’t even walk into a room on their own are now performing at The Royal Exchange in Victoria Wood’s ‘That Day we Sang’ this Christmas. Other children have been praised by teachers for their improved behaviour and listening skills. Every year we put on two small productions at Christmas and Summer. I am so proud of each and every one of my Minis and love working with them every week.We believe in what we do, and the proof is in the pudding! Come and see for yourself!
