I partner with institutions of higher education to assess and respond to issues of compliance, policy, and liability. In addition to representing colleges and universities in litigation, I regularly assist with drafting student codes of conduct, handbooks, and policies on issues ranging from sexual harassment and hazing to cyberbullying and program and department operations, and provide on-campus training to administrators, judicial boards, and others. I also have experience in leading, and guiding institutions through, proactive and reactive internal investigations and providing counsel during government enforcement actions, particularly those involving the Clery Act and Title IX. Beyond these issues, I also advise higher education clients on the developing trend of esports on campus. My experience includes reviewing esports league participation agreements, advising institutions on participation in esports tournaments, spotting legal risks, and working through the mechanics of launching collegiate esports programs.
