ABOUT AMY PORTER
I am a research-driven policy expert and strategic leader with over 15 years of experience in education policy and monitoring and evaluation (M&E). I specialize in leading evaluations and advising governments, donor agencies, and multilateral organizations on evidence-based decision-making to improve education systems. As a Technical Director for Strategy, Performance, and Learning at Social Impact, I led evaluations and capacity-building (curriculum assessment, MEL systems) for USAID, the World Bank, and ministries of education worldwide. My expertise includes early grade learning, career guidance in basic education, education systems strengthening, and policy advisory work. I thrive at the intersection of research and practice, ensuring that data-driven insights translate into meaningful program and policy change. With a background that spans government, private sector, and academia, I offer systems-thinking solutions that draw from the best of multiple approaches. I hold a Ph.D. in Educational Policy Studies from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, an M.A. from Columbia University’s Teachers College, and a B.A. in Business Administration from the University of Washington-Seattle. My work is driven by a passion for lifelong learning and a commitment to fostering equitable, high-quality education worldwide. Unrestricted authorization to work in the U.S.A. and E.U.
