About Amy L. Bauer

Dr. Amy L. Bauer has over a decade of experience in weapons design and weapons physics in support of Directed Stockpile, Experimental Science, and Global Security programs. Dr. Bauer\'s expertise is in nuclear weapon design for global security missions including Nuclear Forensics (NTNF), Capabilities for Nuclear Intelligence (CNI), and Nuclear Counterterrorism (NCT). She is active in both pre- and post-detonation emergency response (JTOT, DFEAT, NTNF) and technical research and development in these areas. Dr. Bauer was the Principal Investigator for Red Sage – a NNSA series of dynamic plutonium sub-critical experiments, PI for a stockpile system DARHT hydrodynamic test, and the Deputy Containment Venture Lead for the Low-Yield Nuclear Monitoring (LYNM) program before relocating to Washington DC on temporary assignment as a Science Advisor to NNSA Office of Counterterrorism and Counterproliferation. Dr. Bauer has received four LANL Distinguished Performance Awards and one NNSA Defense Programs Award of Excellence. Dr. Bauer received her Ph.D. in Applied Mathematics in 2007 from the University of Michigan and holds an M.B.A. in Finance from the University of Illinois at Chicago.

   As the Department of Energy/National Nuclear Security Administration (DOE/NNSA) Liaison to United States Space Command (USSPACECOM), I serve as the primary point of contact for facilitating communication and collaboration between the two organizations. My role is critical in ensuring effective coordination on matters of mutual interest related to national security and space operations.Responsibilities include:• Facilitating the exchange of technical expertise and policy guidance between DOE/NNSA and USSPACECOM.• Participating in interagency working groups to address emerging threats and develop coordinated strategies.• Providing briefings to senior leadership on key issues related to nuclear security and space operations.• Supporting the development and implementation of joint initiatives to enhance national security capabilities.Leveraging expertise in national security policy, nuclear security, nuclear incident response, and remote sensing, I contribute to strengthening the partnership between DOE/NNSA and USSPACECOM, ensuring a cohesive approach to safeguarding national interests in the space domain.
