About Amy Karle
Amy Karle is an ultracontemporary artist and designer working where biology, computation, and culture converge. Her research-driven practice, grounded in critical making, asks how emerging technologies are reshaping humanity, and how evolution can be consciously shaped toward preferred futures. Her work operates across scales and systems, from cells to space, and across time horizons from the present to deep time and the far future. Projects range from computationally designed bioprinted forms cultured toward bone to cultural and biological archives placed on the Moon. Inspired by living systems, Karle synthesizes biological, computational, and physical processes to develop new forms, materials, and narratives that make emerging technology emotionally and ethically intelligible. The inquiry extends from how humans evolve with technology to how reality itself is altered when intervention reaches foundational layers of matter, and when quantum, biological, and artificial systems begin to co-evolve. Karle conducts independent research and collaborates with scientists and engineers, prototyping through computational design, AI systems, bio-digital processes, and biofeedback and data translation. The practice often involves developing and co-developing new workflows and technical approaches that translate complex scientific and computational systems into public experience.Karle conducts research and collaborates with scientists and engineers, prototyping through computational design, AI systems, bio-digital processes, and biofeedback and data translation.
