ABOUT AMY SUMMERTON
From 20••••25 i was Research Chemist in SABIC\'s T&I (Technology & Innovation) group as a member of the Olefins & Aromatics EUR/AMR team. Back in 2015 i joined SABIC as a Laboratory Technician Apprentice and now 10 years later i have completed my BEng Chemical Engineering whilst ganing vast experience across different areas of SABIC in Europe. For the past few years i have been supporting the Teesside Improvement Project converting the Olefins 6 Cracker to an Ethane feedstock. From chemical interaction assessments, chemistry support, basic process engineering experience and seeing small sub projects from start to completion. Throughout 2025 i have been seconded into a Comissioning Based role developing procedures for systemised areas for the comissioning phase to promote safe, effiecent and reliable start-up. My role in T&I has allowed me to support wider projects including work on Pyrolysis Oil decontamination and characterization. Assurance of process additive type, dosing and optimization is a crucial element of the past 5 years of my career. As the T&I support for Teesside i belong to a wider team based in the Netherlands. Safety has became a huge part of my career as i find myself as a laboratory owner,author of COSHH assessments, Transportation Safety Element Support and regular housekeeping auditting.
