Supported Employment Manager Inc Project Search @West Lothian Council

Managing a team of Employment Development Advisors for West Lothian Council’s Supported Employment Service. Offering support to any West Lothian resident with a disability seeking assistance in finding employment. The service provides one-to-one support with a designated Advisor, group work sessions, developing skills and organising work experience placements in the voluntary and private sectors, and all job search activities. Working within a person-centred framework, focusing completely on the client’s goals, the level of support is tailored to the needs of the individual.Also offering a free professional recruitment and support service to employers seeking to employ a person with disabilities, and on-going in-work support for both the employee and employer. Encouraging employers throughout West Lothian to offer people with disabilities work experience placements is also a large part of my role, and putting the correct support in place to ensure this is a positive experience for both the client and the employer, organising and facilitating any necessary training for staff is also available. Additionally, I am the Co-ordinator for West Lothian’s Project Search, a programme designed for young people with Autism and/or a learning disability to gain 9 months work experience with a host employer, with a Job Coach supplied by West Lothian Council and a Lecturer supplied by West Lothian College on site to support on a full-time basis. This year the project is being hosted by ToysRUs, and continues to be tremendously successful for all parties.
