About Amy Friedman
Experienced Founder with a demonstrated history of working in the art education industry. Strong business development professional with a master\'s in art education from Teachers College of Columbia University. Amy, the founder of Smart with Art, is a passionate art educator engaging children and fostering creativity since 1994. Amy has taught art in schools in the greater Seattle area for decades. Smart with Art, which Amy founded in 2011, offers high-quality art education programming in schools and community centers throughout Washington State. In 2020, Smart with Art expanded offerings to include virtual classes, workshops, and parties. Today, Smart with Art brings our innovative curriculum to students nationwide and worldwide through our online art education programs. We created our Smart with Art Curriculum Kits to reach even more students and provide high quality art education at home.Smart with Art has served over 250 schools. We offer after-school educational options, daytime art programming, workshops, birthday parties and summer camps. Students discover art through a process-oriented approach while fostering self-expression and creativity. Students gain selfesteem as they learn to evaluate risk, solve problems creatively, and engage their imagination all while developing artistic skills.Amy developed Art Avenue (the Art Bus) in 2020. She purchased a school bus and converted it into a mobile classroom.
