About Amy Dasilva
I recently discovered my entire career trajectory to date laid out as symbols within my kids’ costume trunk like a jumble of emojis: a tutu, an apron, a lab coat, and a computer keyboard. I considered having them perform a YouTube dramatization that I could link to this profile to tell my story, but that did not provide an opportunity to “optimize keywords”. Instead, I will break it down for you in the standard style. My curiosity and receptivity, along with a desire to do interesting and meaningful work, has led me to work as a modern dancer and dance teacher, as a pastry chef and kitchen manager for several award-winning bakeries, and as a lab technician and research paper co-author for the Invasive Species and Pollinator Health Research Unit at the USDA. Currently I aim to synthesize my strengths in creativity, problem solving, leadership, social intelligence and analytic skills toward a new career as a data analyst. I completed Springboard’s data analytics bootcamp in June 2022. It is estimated that 2.5 quintillion bytes of data are generated every day in 2022, and this figure will undoubtedly grow. I am enthusiastic about the grand potential to drill down into this massive body of data to discover insights and provide solutions to some of the world’s most urgent problems, but I am also interested in how data can make improve our lives in small but important ways (I’m looking at you, HBO).
