As a content sub-editor for Redactive, I work alongside writers, editors and graphic designers on a wide range of magazines for various membership organisations. The role involves editing and proofreading copy – both as raw copy on Microsoft Word and on designed magazine pages on InDesign – for spelling, grammar, formatting and factual errors; writing headlines, standfirsts and captions; adapting copy according to each publication\'s specialised style guide, and also editing and updating the style guide when needed; and working with the client to make amends to the finished product, and ensure it is finalised in time for its publication deadline.The magazines I currently work on include- Acuity (College of Optometrists)- British Horse (British Horse Society)- Building Engineer (Chartered Association of Building Engineers)- E+T (Institution of Engineering and Technology)- Governing Matters (National Governance Association)- inTuition (Society for Education and Training)- IOSH (Institution of Occupational Safety and Health)- Midwives (Royal College of Midwives)- Salonfocus (National Hair and Beauty Federation)- The Podiatrist (Royal College of Podiatry)- u3a Matters (u3a).
