Conduct research for new design ideas through social media, WGSN, magazines, and travels (music festivals, trade/ fabric shows, shopping trips)-Create concept boards by pulling inspiration tears, indigo and color wash ranges, sketching or mocking-up design details, and utilizing the wash lab and our vendors to create new wash techniques on indigo and twill-Source new fabrications and trims for upcoming seasons by meeting with fabric mills and trim suppliers-Coordinate tailoring and wear test samples of new fabrics by selecting a tech pack and wash standard to receive samples in. Follow up on wear test results to ensure fabric is well-received and QA testing to ensure fabric meets quality standards-Manage the denim and twill team by motivating, inspiring, and developing each team member to his/her full potential-Design a collection from concept to creation by-Partner with tech design to create new silhouettes. Map out all design details on a dress form-Prepare tech packs that include flat sketches, threads, embellishment/ repair detail pages, fabrics, hardware, and trims. As styles evolve, update information in Web PLM-Coordinate development of colors, graphics, patterns, and trims-Create wash standards - wet process standards (base, tint, abrasion), dry process standards (destroy, grinding, repair, paint, patterns and intensities for whiskers, blasts), wash effect standards (tumble, ombre, splatter, rub) and other various standards (coating, overdye)-Go on production trips to wash houses in China and Gautemala to facilitate wash development and approval-Comment on washes, lab dips, and strike-offs until approval-Participate in fit sessions to ensure the fit and details of each style reflect the aesthetic of the brand-Collaborate with female design to make sure the line is cohesive and balanced-Work closely with merchandising, technical design, and sourcing to ensure each style produced meets quality standards and is delivered on time.
