About Amy Baldwin George
Amy Baldwin George is a former journalist turned public relations strategist who believes storytelling grows careers and businesses — and good PR is grounded in truth and integrity, not spin. As the founder of By George Communications, a news-savvy PR agency celebrating 10 years in business, Amy helps people and organizations build credibility, gain attention and grow through storytelling and PR. Her team focuses on what’s newsworthy and connects those stories with the right reporters, outlets and audiences. Because PR isn’t a “nice to have.” It’s a core business strategy. Amy works with a range of clients, including financial services firms, financial advisors, health care systems and providers, and arts and culture organizations and leaders. These are examples, not limits. By George partners with individuals and organizations who are ready to invest time, energy and resources into building their reputations and telling their stories the right way. By George clients have been featured in leading media outlets, including The Associated Press, CNN.com, The New York Times, People, USA Today, The Washington Post and Yahoo Lifestyle. Beyond media placements, the firm develops strategic PR plans, helps clients protect and manage their reputations, including knowing when not to be in the news, and builds long-term visibility through thought leadership. Amy has elevated countless LinkedIn profiles and developed and led LinkedIn and media training sessions for teams across a variety of industries. Before By George, Amy led PR efforts for executives and portfolio managers at Wells Fargo Asset Management. While being a journalist prepared Amy to be a communications and PR pro, her love of storytelling is lifelong. In kindergarten, she received a typewriter for Christmas and never looked back. By high school, she was writing for The Dayton Daily News and winning awards on her high school debate team. Her college internships included the AP\'s Paris bureau. After earning a journalism degree from Ohio University\'s Honors Tutorial College and E.W. Scripps School of Journalism, Amy worked as a journalist for 13 years, including posts on the business desks at the AP in New York and The Charlotte Observer. In New York, she covered the markets following the tech bubble through the aftermath of the 9/11 attacks. In Charlotte, she created the personal finance column “Out of the Red,” which won a “Best in Business Columns” award from the national Society of American Business Editors and Writers. She lives in Charlotte with her husband and two daughters.
