ABOUT AMRUTESH PURANIK

I am a highly skilled and innovative research scientist with a Ph.D. in Pharmacology and extensive experience in checkpoint immunology, immuno-oncology, and drug discovery research. My expertise includes leading cross-functional teams, project management, target identification, validation, and biomarker implementation. I am proficient in high-parametric flow cytometry, single-cell RNA sequencing, and have experience in regulatory document preparation. My professional highlights include: Drug discovery & development: Target identification, validation, and novel biomarker discovery in clinical and pre-clinical models. Biomarker discovery for reverse translation, checkpoint immunology, therapeutic cancer vaccines, and bispecific antibodies. Operational experience with high-parametric flow cytometry and single-cell RNA sequencing, including AbSeq across Fluidigm, 10X and Rhapsody platforms. Mentoring precepts: flow cytometry education for post-doctoral fellows and fellow scientists. I have held significant positions at Regeneron, NYU Langone Health, & Mayo Clinic, where I have made impactful contributions to projects in immuno-oncology, & cancer vaccine development, & biomarker discovery. In addition, I have extensively worked in target discovery for autoimmune & inflammatory diseases such as lupus, dermatomyositis, obesity, type 2 diabetes, renal fibrosis & aging. My educational background includes a Ph.D. in Pharmacology from the University of Pune, a Master of Pharmacy from Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Science. My technical skills include high-parametric flow cytometry, Image Stream, next-generation sequencing (NGS), single-cell RNA sequencing, CITE-Seq, AbSeq, Isoplexis® single-cell secretion, immunohistochemistry (IHC), and multiplex immunofluorescence. As a sophisticated flow cytometrist, I specialize in assay development for various clinical and preclinical biomarkers and its implementation at various CRO. I have designed, implemented and validated various bioinformatics pipelines to automate flow cytometry data analysis for complex clinical trials such as to identify biomarkers in non-responders for melanoma. I have been awarded multiple research grants and fellowships throughout my career, demonstrating my commitment to advancing scientific knowledge in the field of cancer immunology and drug discovery.
