ABOUT AMRITA V. SINGH
My practice focuses on litigation and strategy in all areas of intellectual property, including patents, trademarks, copyright, confidential information and trade secrets. I am very active in the Ontario Bar Association (OBA) – I am currently on the Board, Chair of the Equality Committee, an elected representative for Toronto on the OBA Council, immediate Past-Chair of the Women Lawyers Forum section executive, and a Past-Chair for the Information Technology and Intellectual Property section executive. I have twice co-Chaired the OBA Law Day Committee, and was responsible for our collaboration with the Art Gallery of Ontario. I am the Chair of the Canadian Bar Association\'s (CBA) Intellectual Property section executive, and on the Federal Court\'s IP Users Committee. I am also a member of the CBA Patent and Industrial Design and Trademarks Committees. I am the immediate Past-Chair of the Intellectual Property Institute of Canada\'s (IPIC) Litigation committee, and on IPIC’s Women in IP committee. In addition, I am actively involved in diversity and inclusion initiatives, including as Chair of my firm’s Diversity & Inclusion Committee and by mentoring students through the annual OJEN mock trial and the McGill Law Women of Colour Collective, and junior lawyers through the OBA, South Asian Bar Association and IPIC. I am also an active member of the Advocates\' Society and Toronto Intellectual Property Group (TIPG), and am an elected member of Queen’s University Council. I have appeared as an expert in intellectual property law before the Canadian House of Commons’ Standing Committee on Industry, Science and Technology (INDU), and worked with the Department of National Defence to promote intellectual property awareness. I am a 2022 Lexpert Rising Star Leading Lawyer under 40, and have been ranked since 2021 in trademark enforcement and litigation by World Trademark Review an IP Star in Trademarks by Managing Intellectual Property, and by IAM Patent in patent litigation. In 2021, I was the recipient of the Queen’s University Law School Dan Soberman Outstanding Young Alumni Award for early career success. I have also been named as a rising star in trademarks by Euromoney and recognized as a Lexology Legal Influencer.
