About Amrik Ahluwalia
Joined Indian Air Force in 1952 as an aviator; flew various types of aircraft-Tigermoth to Canberra bomber-maximum in Canberra aircraft; first active flying branch officer to be seconded to the Judge Advocate General\'s Department; retired in 1983 as the Joint Judge Advocate General of the Air Force; took part in the 1965 & 1971 Indo-Pak Wars and was with the United Nations force in the Congo in 1961-62; with the Royal Air Force, UK in 1957; with the USSR Air Force in 1961; awarded gallantry award during the 1965 Indo-Pak war. Did all studies after high school to Master of Laws while in the IAF, in spare time. Practiced law in the Supreme Court of India and Delhi High Court from 1983 to 1993-mainly in writ petitions against the Government and Services; was legal adviser and standing counsel for all IAF schools in Delhi. Moved to the USA in 1993 and continued as an International Law Consultant and Indian lawyer in The Chugh Firm in Los Angeles. Vast experience in defending/prosecuting court-martial cases under Army, Navy, Air Force law, and in flying accident investigations. Author of the book \"Airborne to Chairborne\" Memoirs of a War Veteran-Aviator-Lawyer of the IAF.Visited over a 100 countries during 30 years in the IAF and subsequent to retirement.
