I am currently working as a Senior piping designer for Amec Black Cat in Doha, Qatar producing detailed construction piping work packs for offshore brownfield modifications. My overall job function though is as a Lead piping designer as I have overall responsibility of maintaining the drafting QA on PDMS and Autocad for 20 designers and for any technical queries these designers have in relation to drafting standards, quality, and technical input into the drafting presentation. I also answer their technical queries on piping design where it is in relation to routings and what is permitted within the codes along with producing my own detail design piping drawings for the projects.I have 8+ years experience in piping design of Oil & Gas Offshore & Onshore, Petrochemical, Chemical, and Nuclear Power plants using 2d & 3d design CAD software, LFM, LMI (Point cloud data) and PDMS. Familiar with various activities involved in developing detail engineering deliverables. I am fully conversant with the software tools used in producing piping deliverables in both 2D and 3D CAD systems. Recently I have been trained by AMEC to assume the role of PDMS administrator (with Aberdeen being used as back up) for their newly installed PDMS software in the Qatar office.I also have checking experience of all piping deliverables and at times have also helped the senior engineers in preparing manhour estimates based on the number of deliverables.

   Our work is driven in line with an aggressive drilling program together with a concise work program & budget (WPB). My main duties being to produce detailed engineering work-packs within a timely program that parallels with the client’s projected exit rate targets. Additionally, I coordinate on a day-to-day basis with my counter-parts in the Projects, construction & planning departments. Representing the design group, I attend various meetings as arranged throughout the week. This to address progress, slippage, clashes, minimizing of Hot-work. Also carrying out regular visits to the Field which contains 14 De-gassing stations and 10-CPS’s. This to meet with the ‘local’ plant management on the ongoing engineering detail for their review and acceptance.Responsibilities include, support to team of piping designers, responsible for design drafting quality of piping deliverables, preparation/checking of piping GA’s, X’MAS tree stack-up orientation drawings, preparation/checking of isometrics, MTO and site survey as per project requirements. Projects include onshore brownfield modifications & Greenfield to remote wellhead, flowlines, degassing station, CPS water stations and manifold tie-in (Oil and Water).
