ABOUT AMIYO K. BASU
Dr. Basu is currently an advisor at the University of Texas-Austin’s Diesel Engine Research team and at IRSEN, California focusing on community/utility collaboration and energy resilience. He is a COO for an innovative diesel engine enterprise involving Rotating Liner Engine technology. While at Caterpillar, Dr. Basu led emissions sensing strategy by advancing strategic sensors and introduction of advanced products. Previously, he led new product improvement projects involving products manufactured in the US, Canada, Europe, South America, China, India for the Cat’s RCD Division. During the last sixteen years, Dr. Basu worked at Delphi (then GM) and Ford dealing in research, design, and testing advanced products and in vehicle dynamics, sensor, actuators, and NVH. During the late 1980s, Dr. Basu became General Manager, Integrated Power Div, Exide Industries, India. His responsibilities included diversification of Exide in Solar power systems design e.g, photovoltaic power plants, advanced energy storage systems, and new battery technologies. Dr. Basu won a competitive bid to design and install India\'s first village level centralized Solar PV power plant. Dr. Basu was a founding member of ASME\'s Solar Central Receiver Codes and Standards committee and is a past president of the ASME’s Rio Grande Section. Dr. Basu is a member of the ASME’s Energy committee. He has received several patents, Defensive Publication, and Trade secret involving various sensing and actuation technologies. He has also co-authored the Energy Handbook published by Wiley & Sons. He is a Fellow of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers and has been nominated as an SAE Fellow. Dr. Basu is currently a member of various ASME Energy committees. Dr. Basu has been an organizer of SAE\'s World Congress and been a board member of the Arizona Solar Energy Society. Dr. Basu was registered as a Profession Engineer in the state of Arizona. He holds BS, MS, and PhD degrees in mechanical engineering.
