About Amiyah Chavis

Soon-to-be graduate from Queens University of Charlotte, majoring in Health Communication with a minor in Psychology. I am passionate about women’s health, with a specific focus on improving maternal health outcomes across the United States. Growing up, I witnessed firsthand how people of color are often discriminated against in healthcare and other institutional settings. These experiences have fueled my commitment to health equity and inspired me to advocate for underserved communities—especially mothers of color. I am dedicated to using education, communication, and community-based outreach to promote culturally competent care and policy change. I’m currently seeking opportunities in public health, maternal health advocacy, or research work where I can contribute to creating a more inclusive and supportive healthcare system.

   Sep 2025 — Present

   Collaborate with campus organizations and local partners to expand marketing reach and strengthen community involvement in hunger relief efforts. Lead campus marketing campaigns to raise awareness about food insecurity and NC Hunger Challenge initiatives through tabling events, flyers, and digital promotions. Develop and implement outreach strategies to engage students, faculty, and community members, increasing event participation and volunteer sign-ups. Utilize social media platforms and email newsletters to promote hunger awareness events, boosting campus visibility and engagement. Plan and coordinate food drives, tabling events, and service projects to collect donations and educate the campus community on hunger issues.
