ABOUT AMITA SINGH
As a dedicated Ph.D. candidate in Cellular and Molecular Biology at UQTR, I specialize in immunology and virology with a focus on viral-host interactions and the human nucleopore complex. My academic journey, beginning with a B.Sc. in Zoology, Botany, and Chemistry from APS University and an M.Sc. in Biotechnology from IIT Roorkee, has been enriched by numerous honors and awards, including the prestigious Canadian Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Scholarship and the UQTR Bourse d’excellence. Driven by an inquisitive spirit, I am passionate about uncovering molecular mechanisms in viral replication, which I have presented at leading scientific forums. My professional experience includes a combination of rigorous laboratory work and cross-disciplinary training. I undertook internships and research training at CINVESTAV in Mexico and IIT Roorkee, where I worked on projects involving plant genetics, tissue culture, and flavivirus techniques. Additionally, I gained hands-on experience in team management, problem-solving, and customer service in a fast-paced environment during my tenure at McDonald\'s. This blend of research and practical experience has honed my adaptability, communication skills, and dedication to excellence. Looking ahead, I aim to bridge the gap between academia and industry, leveraging my research insights to drive innovation in antiviral treatments. I aspire to contribute to industry projects focused on immunology and virology while preparing for an eventual transition into academia as a professor. My ultimate goal is to inspire the next generation of scientists and contribute meaningfully to our understanding and treatment of viral infections
