WORK HISTORY
Geotechnical Engineer @WSP in Canada
Ottawa, ON, CA
Recent Hydropower Project Experience— Davis Earth Dam Replacement (2025-Ongoing), Client: PCA, Perform a multicriteria analysis for the three options for reconstruction of the Davis Earth Dam. Develop Design Basis Report. Prepare the drawings and technical specifications. Prepare Design Report. Developed risk management plan and coordinated with multidisciplinary teams for design deliverables. Project schedule update and each design milestone. Prepare the ‘’For Tender’’ documentation. Provide full-time on-site surveillance. Provide office construction services. Attend and prepare minutes of weekly construction meetings. Review Field Change Requests, Requests for Information or changes that would impact construction contract. Performed geotechnical modeling and analysis using SLOPE/W for slope stability and seepage evaluations— Nipigon River Earth Dams Rehabilitation project (2025-Ongoing), Phase 1 Construction, Client: Ontario Power Generation (OPG). Provided resident engineer services to ensure contractor adherence to specifications, and that construction progresses according to the construction drawings. Steel Sheet Pile cut off wall were constructed for Cameron Falls Block Dam 3, with downstream slope and toe filter blanket for Cameron Falls Block Dam 3 and 4— Horseshoe Dam Cofferdam Study Project,(2025-Ongoing), Client: Trans Alta. Led geotechnical analysis and design coordination for the upstream cofferdam required to facilitate sluicegate replacement at the Horseshoe Dam, a 14.4 MW hydroelectric facility on the Bow River. Evaluated geological conditions confirming dam foundation on competent sandstone bedrock; integrated bathymetric and topographic data to assess sediment levels and site constraints. Assessed multiple cofferdam configurations (cellular, braced sheet pile, tubular pile wall, combined-wall system), recommending tubular pile as the preferred option for minimizing impact on intake structures and optimizing cost-effectiveness.

ABOUT AMIRHOSSEIN AMANZADEH
Part of the Dams & Hydraulics’ team, Amir Aman is a geotechnical engineer with over 7 years of relevant experience in geotechnical engineering including soil mechanics, rock mechanics, groundwater hydrology, and design for heavy civil construction. A recent graduate of a master’s degree program in Civil Engineering – Geotechnical, Amiris knowledgeable in the design of retaining walls, support of excavation, earth retention, slope stability, rock mechanics, soft soils, ground improvement, deep foundations, shallow foundations, and dewatering. He is skilled in interdisciplinary designcoordination between Engineering and Construction. Amir is currently a registered certified associate in project management (CAPM) from PMI, and a registered professional engineer (P.Eng) in Ontario, Manitoba, and Northwest Territories. Amir has direct experience completing construction inspection services on the English- Winnipeg River Earth Dams, and Nipigon River Earth Dams Rehabilitation Project (OPG). Amir completed full-time construction inspection and monitoring services for six downstream and upstream stability berms. His duties included daily inspections of dam performance, the collection, processing and analysis of instrumentation data (VWP’s, inclinometers, survey monuments), photo of log of activities, review of contractor shop drawings and QC documents, comprehensive daily field reports, attending construction progress meetings, as well as technical support to the contractor. Amir is a Geotechnicalengineer with expertise in numerical modeling and finite element analysis using PLAXIS, FLAC, SLOPE/W, SEEP/W, and GeoStudio Suite. Skilled in dam safety reviews, risk management, and multidisciplinary design coordination for hydropower and heavy civil projects. Proficient in Rocscience tools (DIPS, UNWEDGE, SWEDGE) and gINT forgeotechnical data analysis.
