Shinfield, GB

I specialize in characterizing quantum computing hardware and developing methods to optimize and automate rapid trust-worthy calibration of commercial quantum processors. Working closely with a multi-disciplinary team of physicists, nanotechnologists, electrical engineers, and software developers, I contribute to building cutting-edge quantum computers. My main responsibilities include performing microwave measurements on qubits and quantum devices via a Python-managed control systems, analyzing data and automating calibration and benchmarking protocols as well as developing new measurements based on novel research approaches. Additionally, I co-operate advanced dilution cryogenic systems and assist in preparing QPUs - in industrial clean room - for cryogenic characterization.

ABOUT AMIR A.

I’m a quantum engineer specializing in qubit metrology within the team responsible for fabricating the quantum processing unit (QPU) and improving its performance through continuous research and development. My work focuses on characterizing and optimizing commercial quantum processors through experimental research and data-driven analysis involving close collaborations with multidisciplinary teams of physicists, nanotechnologists, electrical engineers, and software developers to advance the development of next-generation quantum computers. My day-to-day responsibilities include operating dilution refrigerators, preparing samples for cryogenic measurements, conducting microwave measurements on qubits and superconducting quantum circuits, calibrating and benchmarking quantum processors, and analyzing experimental data using Python-based control and automation systems.Earlier in my career, I worked as a micro-photolithography process engineer, where I led metrology-focused process improvements and supported cross-departmental projects where I gained strong experience in data cleaning and statistical analysis and became well-versed in the mechanics of advanced optical lithography systems.I hold an M.Sc. in experimental condensed matter physics focused on academic research in nanoelectronics and quantum transport, with hands-on experience in managing cryogenic environments, experimenting using high magnetic field control systems and in nanofabrication and working in a cleanroom performing e-beam and UV lithography. Technically, I’m continuously developing my Python programming skills, building on a foundational background in C. During my academic work, I also gained experience using LabView and Matlab for experimental control and data analysis. In addition, I have taught physics and mathematics courses at both the undergraduate STEM level and for advanced high school students, which has strengthened my abilities in communication, teamwork, and problem-solving under pressure. I’m a native Arabic speaker, with advanced-level proficiency in both Hebrew and English.
