The Division for Inclusive Social Development (DISD) of the United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs (UNDESA) seeks to strengthen international cooperation for social development, particularly in the areas of poverty eradication, productive employment and decent work and the social inclusion of older persons, youth, family, persons with disabilities, indigenous peoples, persons marginalized from society and development. The aim of UNDESA DISD is to create greater awareness and increase involvement by civil society in the work of the United Nations on social issues related to the mandate of the Division.Outreach Activities:Coordinating and disseminating effectively information on the UN\'s work on social policy and development issues through websites, portals and social media channels; sharing knowledge and experiences through panel discussions and expert group meetings; raising awareness of emerging issues on social development; researching and analyzing information on thematic areas including ageing, youth, family, cooperatives, indigenous peoples, persons with disabilities and innovation and technology.Civil Society Relations:Coordinating effectively the civil society participation in major UN events dealing with social development and intergovernmental processes including the sessions of the Commission for Social Development (CSocD), the United Nations Permanent Forum on Indigenous Issues (UNPFII), the Conference of State Parties (COSP) for Persons with Disabilities and the Open Working Group on Ageing (OWGA); briefing of NGOs on the work, outreach activities of DISD, on the UN ECOSOC accreditation and the use of online registration systems.
