About Amina Sena
My recent experience as the Burned Area Emergency Response Implementation Team Leader for the HPCC and Cerro Pelado Fires has given me a great background to support the district’s priority work around fire recovery. Current work is focused on recovery from the 2022 Hermit’s Peak and Calf Canyon (HPCC) wildfires.Sena, who has been the Pecos-Las Vegas District Ranger since May 19, 2023, said that she considers it a sacred duty to be able to work with the local communities, tribes, agencies, universities, and nonprofit organizations to help restore and manage the Santa Fe National Forest.Born in Chimayo and raised in Rociada, North of Las Vegas, NM, Sena received both her undergraduate and graduate degrees from New Mexico Highlands University. As Forest Hydrologist, she supported restoration of watershed conditions across the forest, including after the HPCC fire. Sena has also served as Watershed Restoration Director at the Hermit’s Peak Watershed Alliance, and before that, the Restoration Monitoring Program Manager at the NM Forest and Watershed Restoration Institute. Sena began her career as the staff Hydrologist on the Red Rock Ranger District, in Sedona, Arizona. She has also served on missions abroad through the US Forest Service International Programs Department and has contributed to International Seminars in the United States.

The Pecos-Las Vegas Ranger District is home to the iconic Pecos Wilderness and the headwaters of the Wild and Scenic Pecos River originate on the district.
