Tinkering with digital technology.Amin is an architect who has studied and worked internationally since 2005. He is deeply passionate about the intersection of computation, algorithms, data, and technology in architecture, engineering, and construction. He has collaborated with high-profile clients such as Equinix, Google, Highways England, GlaxoSmithKline and Johnson Matthey to deliver value. His diverse portfolio reflects a deep understanding of the challenges and opportunities involved in the design and construction of various types of projects. This includes small residential units and mixed-use shopping centres, as well as high-spec luxury residential towers, industrial facilities and infrastructure projects in the transportation, pharmaceutical, information technology, healthcare and aviation sectors in the UK and internationally.Currently, he leads the definition, implementation, delivery and scaling of client-specific digital technologies for enterprise clients, based on systematic standardised designs that can be localised per project.Amin is committed to critically reflecting on and challenging current practices and methods and aims to improve the quality of the built environment by creating, leading and inspiring teams that utilise advanced computational tools, techniques and processes.Here are his reflections:\"I believe that the current state of digital technology in AEC has remained stagnant for decades. While architecture has focused on precise documentation requiring expert knowledge, these efforts contribute little to design quality. The tech industry has provided generic applications that fail to adapt to the evolving needs of clients and diverse project types. There is no one-size-fits-all digital solution for architects and engineers. A two-way relationship between humans and technology is essential. Designers should actively shape technology to address industry challenges rather than being passive consumers. Although barriers to engaging with digital technology have lowered, implementing innovative solutions is still complex. Current practices are based on outdated processes, necessitating a shift in habits and collaboration to support new technological solutions. By internalising technology, architects and engineers can leverage digital capabilities like simulation and analysis, freeing up time for strategic thinking and creativity. This shift could redefine roles in the industry, allowing professionals to focus on innovation rather than routine documentation, ultimately transforming the AEC landscape.\"
