About Fatmi

I didn’t choose HR because I thought I was a “people person.” I chose it because I kept ending up in rooms where decisions about people, structure, and trade-offs were being made and I was curious about how those decisions could be made better.My journey has been anything but linear. From Bihar to Aligarh for school, Delhi for a Bachelor’s in Fashion Technology at NIFT, Mumbai to work with Aditya Birla Fashion and Retail, Jamshedpur for my MBA at XLRI, and back to Delhi post-MBA, each move shaped how I look at work, people, and systems. Moving across cities, roles, and disciplines taught me early that context matters more than theory.Professionally, I’ve worked across corporate HR and Human Capital Consulting, getting my hands dirty with talent transformation, talent acquisition, business partnering, people analytics, workforce strategy, and organisation change. I’ve built dashboards, redesigned processes, led digital transformations, questioned assumptions, and spent long hours trying to make HR decisions clearer and more defensible. I enjoy messy problems, especially when the answers are not obvious.Over the last few years, my work has shifted from improving internal HR processes to helping leaders look outward. How are talent markets really moving. Where are skills building up or disappearing. What signals matter before decisions become urgent. Today, I spend a lot of time in conversations with CHROs and HR leaders, using data and market insights to support the choices they have to make.I’ve been lucky to work with organisations like Deloitte, Tata Group, Aditya Birla Group, and P&G, and to be part of cross-geography work, including international stints and representing India as a youth delegate in the Maldives. These experiences taught me to zoom out, connect dots, and avoid one-size-fits-all answers.Outside of formal roles, I enjoy building and giving back. During the pandemic, I started offering free CV reviews, interview preparation, and career guidance and ended up supporting over students and professionals. That experience still grounds how I think about careers and access.When I’m not working, you’ll usually find me writing Urdu poetry, having long chai-fuelled conversations, cooking for friends, or with a camera.
