ABOUT ABDI ELMI

I am an NEC Project Manager and Mechanical Engineer with over twelve years of project delivery experience across the water, wastewater, and rail sectors. I have worked extensively in water and wastewater treatment, delivering projects as a design consultant, Project Engineer, and Project Manager. In addition, I have spent more than two years in the rail industry supporting the delivery of HS2, broadening my experience in large-scale, complex infrastructure programmes.Within the water industry, I spent over five years seconded to Severn Trent on behalf of Stantec, working within the One Supply Chain across feasibility, design, and project delivery roles. I have also led the delivery of complex capital maintenance schemes at strategic treatment sites for more than four years, managing multidisciplinary teams and driving projects from concept through to completion.My technical engineering background includes developing mechanical feasibility designs, producing and reviewing outline design packages for capital maintenance works, conducting pumping station and asset surveys, and preparing technical reports and recommendations. As a Project Engineer, I have prepared Price Reviews (PR), Business Cases, early cost estimates, Technical Position Statements, and operational effectiveness assessments as part of AMP7 PR19 site diagnostics and scoping.I held a CSCS (Managers & Professionals), Confined Space (Level 1), Water Hygiene (EUSR), and SHEA (Wastewater) certifications, and have completed a wide range of specialist water-industry engineering courses. I am SMSTS certified. I hold an NEC3 and 4 Project Manager accredited certification. I am an Associate Member of the IMechE and am in the final year of my development plan toward Chartered status. I am currently a Project Manager at HS2, responsible for the delivery of all Contestable and Non-contestable utilities in \'Mainline North\' section of the route (between Birmingham and Lichfield), as well as the coordination and delivery of new utility connections and Third Party Non-scheme Requests across the North programme (London to Birmingham).
