ABOUT AMEYO DAGLUS

I am a dedicated vaccinologist with a background in Medical microbiology, I have passion for infectious disease research, immunology, and vaccine development. My expertise spans molecular biology, microbiology, immunology, bioinformatics, and biochemistry, gained through hands-on research and collaborative projects. My journey began at Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT) with a 4 year bachelors degree in Medical Microbiology, where I conducted research thesis on evaluation of bacterial pathogens from diabetic foot ulcers in patients attending Thika level 5 hospital Kenya. This experience fueled my passion for translational research aimed at tackling global health challenges. I later joined Mount Kenya University - Institute of Tropical Diseases and Malaria Elimination, where I worked on point-of-care diagnostics research titled Integrated microscale immiscible phase extraction and isothermal amplification for colorimetric detection of Neisseria gonorrhoeae in collaboration with a team from Stockholm University department of material science. This project strengthened my skills in molecular diagnostics and assay development.https://link.springer.com/article/10.1007/s00••••••••43 As a Research Assistant at the prestigious Kenya Medical Research Institute (KEMRI), I worked on project; Estimating the Prevalence and Concentration of Salmonella and Campylobacter in Poultry Produced by Small-holder Women and Youth Farmers in Peri-Urban areas of Kenya and led a community-based study on HIV infection rates among adolescents and youth. This role honed my expertise in high-throughput microbiological techniques, epidemiological research, and scientific writing. 🧬 I am currently pursuing an Erasmus Mundus Master’s in Leading International Vaccinology Education (LIVE), a multidisciplinary program offered collaboratively by five leading European universities. My focus areas include immunology, vaccine development, epidemiology, biotherapies, and immunomonitoring. As a Research Intern at Sanofi’s RNA Center of Excellence, I am actively involved in mRNA vaccine development, gaining hands-on experience in structural, molecular biology and Immunology to advance next-generation immunotherapies. I am always open to collaborations in vaccinology, immunology, molecular biology, and bioinformatics.
