About Ameya Biradavolu
Ameya Biradavolu (Executive Director, She/Her) is a social worker and youth organizer under 30. She is co-founder and Executive Director at We Are Not Afraid Community Resource Center, where she coordinates three food distribution programs and a refugee shelter. She is also co-founder/board treasurer of AllinOne Collective, an arts collective that partners with real-estate developers to prevent gentrification and repurpose untraditionally zoned spaces. She is the founder and current junior board member of viBe Theater Experience and she was a part of Cause Effective\'s, The Breakfast Club Program at The Foundation Center. She was featured on NY1, in NPR, and The Brownstoner. Her projects were also featured in the NYTimes, NowthisNews and NY1.As the Executive Director at WANA, she helped WANA receive its 501c3; she ran weekly case management for 8 homeless asylum seekers, where she later task managed interns and fellows; She directed three weekly food programs; coordinated rapid response advocacy initiatives, supported WANA’s press materials, social media platforms and website design; and managed grants and individual fundraising campaigns.She graduated from Columbia University School of Social Work, where majored in policy practice with a minor in law and had a concentration in health, mental health, and disability. She is a Posse Foundation full tuition scholarship recipient from Middlebury College. There she majored in American Studies, minored in South Asian Studies, and had a concentration in film and media studies. Ameya was a camp wellness coach at Writopia Lab, development and communications professional at viBe Theater Experience, and a development and communications associate at Fifth Avenue Committee. Moreover, she interned at the New York City Office of Community Affairs and the Smithsonian Museum of American Studies. And she has spent seven years fundraising for affordable housing and social justice/arts programs.
